My name is Graham Knights and I am a local man, having lived and worked in Norfolk all my life. I previously worked for the Halifax when it was a Building Society and latterly for a local firm of Solicitors as Practice and Financial Services Manager for 29 years. That is all behind me now however as I stopped working in April 2017 although I am continuing to work as an Ambassador in Norfolk for Macmillan Cancer Support, helping the Charity to raise money to help those unfortunate people who contract the many forms of this horrible disease.
I joined Barnham Broom five years ago having previously played at Bungay & Waveney Golf Club for many years as my local Club. I am interested in all sport but especially football that I played for too many years before giving up and angling which I enjoy when I have the time. Golf has always been a passion for me however and surprisingly my handicap has fallen to 12 since joining from a poor 15 at Bungay although I consider the Barnham Broom courses to be much more difficult!
I am truly delighted to have been asked to be Captain for 2019 considering the large membership and I take my appointment seriously but hopefully with a sense of humour too. The Club is one of the best in the region in my opinion with an enthusiastic and friendly membership as well as being extremely busy by way of the amount of competitions to be played so I am looking forward to my duties as Captain this year for the benefit of all members and hope that I can make my mark in a positive way before the end of my term.
The Club and Hotel also benefit from some excellent and supportive staff who have, to date, been a real pleasure to work with and who make my role much easier and long may this continue.
