36 hole championship Adam Simms
Congratulations to Adam Sims who this weekend won the Barnham Broom 36 hole scratch championship for the third year running. He is pictured above receiving the championship plate from club Captain Roger Garwood. Adam who plays of 1, shot 150, 76 on the Hill course and 74 on the Valley Course. Second place went to James Tinsey on 153 and third Andrew Stebbings on 158.
The handicap 36 hole competition was won by Eric Harrris, playing off 13, who scored a nett 134, closely followed in second place was Shaun Friend, also playing off 13, with 135 and third Tony Lynne, playing off 11, with 137.
The 2017 Captains’ away weekend saw 23 club members join Roger for 2 rounds at Seacroft GC on the Lincolnshire cost. This excellent course was in fine condition – fast, true greens and an interesting, challenging layout. Unlike last year, the scoring was very good, Mark Staz won the overall competition with an outstanding first round of 46 points, followed by 38 giving total of 84. Second was Chris Langton on 77 points, and third was Keith Parker with 74.
Several prizes were awarded both days for nearest the pin and longest drive. John Norfolk provided bookie services, including the lucrative sweep on the number of shots played from bunkers over the two rounds. This year the total was a modest 76. All agreed it was a good couple of days – thank you Roger.
